wiring harness

I want to install new wiring in my 59 Sport Fury.

  1. Where is the best place to buy a wiring harness.
  2. What would the kit consist of?

Duggar = Do a search “Wiring Harness” at the search box top right corner of this page.
Dick.

Duggar, Dick KNOWS this. Follow his lead.
YnZ is probably the best known harness maker.
Greg Leggatt (sp?) is also highly recommended.

I got a quote for a wiring harness for my 59 Plymouth from YNZ. It was $1,300. I would have to pull the old wiring out and send it to them to custom build. Does this sound right?

Dugger, now I’m worried, they did mine with no sample.
Dick.

Out of curiosity, I went to the YnZ site, bypassed the “Get a Quote” section, clicked on the Antique qnd Classic wiring section, scrolled down to 59 Plymouth, and came up with a price of $889. No “old” harness needs to be sent in.
It is not clear if this takes care of ALL the wiring you would need for a coupe…they call it the MAIN wiring harness.
If you are asking for a customized harness, certainly the cost will go up.Time to talk to a human… If I were you, I’d give them a phone call.

I called them over the phone twice. Both times they said you would have to send the old one and it would still cost the same. I spoke with Chris. The mechanic that is going to install it said for me to get a 58 Plymouth harness from them and he could modify it. They said it would be the same price and I would have to send mine in. All contact with them was via telephone. I did not ask for a customized harness.

This to me is unfathomable. Perhaps the company had an unfriendly break-up, with one party getting all the harness blueprints, the other gettting the shop and equipment.
I am baffled.

So am I. If there are any ideas out there I would be open to suggestions.

Duggar, pardon me for asking the obvious…when you had them on the phone you quoted their website page to them?
You told them they are advertising pre-made harnesses for 59 Plymouth on their website, they quote a price with no mention of sending in the old harness…false advertising is illegal…

No. I called them without looking at their website. I figured talking to them up front would be the best way to get what I want. I did not know that their website had the offer which you referenced.

Re-visit my post of August 22 (scroll up from here). I reported I visited the site, found the harness and the price of $889.
It just doesn’t make sense to me…the website says one thing, the human says a different thing. Makes one wary of sending money to them!

I did go to their website. When I click on wiring for Plymouth, Dodge, Etc. It says page is unavailable. Thanks for your help.

Taken from their website. I think you are going to the wrong section. I’'ll post these pix, then in next post I’ll show how I navigated the site.
