I did, and I’m very happy with mine.

I’ve also had luck getting a thermostat from NAPA (for my 318). I’m forgetting if you have the Golden Commando or the V-800 (318cid), but NAPA’s a good bet.

More good news. The beast fired up!

I wanted to see what shape the gas tank was in, so I disconnected the

fuel line from the carb, dumped five gallons of gas into the tank, and
turned the engine over to see what would come out. Nothing came out. I
disconnected the fule line that comes from the tank, and hooked
up two hoses
to the fule pump. I put the inlet hose into a gas can, the outlet
hose into
a milk jug, and cranked the engine. Although the pump did pump a small
amount of gas, I think that it’s shot and is not capable of pulling fuel
from the tank.

Disappointed but undaunted, I dumped some gas in the carb and hit the

key. After a few spins, it tried to fire, so I rigged up a gas can and a
hose, and gravity fed it into the carb. After a few sputters and
shutters it
fired up and ran. It sounded really smooth and strong. I quickly shut it
back down because the radiator is not in the car and I didn’t want it to
overheat. Transmission fluid also shot out of the tranny lines,
so it looks
like the tranny pump is working as well.

If I have time this week, I'm going to flush the radiater, and if it's

okay, I’m going to put it back in. It was stored in the trunk and looks
okay. I’ll replace all of the hoses as well. I’m going to try to
buy a fuel
pump. If I can’t find one, I may just hook up an electric one. Then I’ll
change the fluids and see if it will stay running.

Do you know where I can find a thermostat? I tried all of the parts

stores, and they all say they can’t get one. The one that is in the car
seems to work when I push on it, but I don’t know whether to trust it or
not. Will a modern thermostat work, or is it a different size. I was
wondering why the parts stores just didn’t recommend a generic thermostat.
