having a hard time finding type A a.t.f. for the fury,i,m getting a lot of bewildered looks but no answers,the local alltrans says to use dextron 3 but i thought i would check here before putting any stinking G.M. fluid in my plymouth,it just don,t seem natural.thanks in advance for your advice.
Dexron is fine to use, it is not GM. MoPar has used dexron for many decades, I have a friend that rebuilds exclusively Ford transmissions, he uses MoPar 7176 fluid. The reason.. they last longer and he has no come back repairs. The fluid has a extreme pressure friction modifier and withstands really high temperatures. Type A and Type B just don’t really exhist anymore. I personally use MoPar 7176 and plus 4.
Rick, what is the “Plus 4” part of the Mopar 7176? 
Also, is Mopar 7176 sold anywhere else then Mopar dealerships? Any other brand name version of this Mopar special blend? Inquiring minds wants to know…

The plus 4 is even newer MoPar ATF Like you will use in your new truck.
My 2010 Hemi 1500 crew cab Big Horn package truck runs very well with strong shift points on the 5 speed Auto tranny so it most have some good qualities to it. My 07 Hemi quad cab had 60K on it when I traded it in for the 2010 model. So no issues on tranny or its fluid. Must work well!
So when I go to Grease Monkey to replace my fluids on it at 40k, do they use the Mopar brand or some other Mopar brand equivalent that has the same properties of the 7176?

Who knows? I don’t trust quickie service places, most use a compatible substitute, by the time you have problems?
Well, since it is company paid to do PM on the vehicle, I may take it to the dealship to change out the tranny fluid when it is time. Thanks for the info!
