Hi Gino! Long time no tawk! You last posted in 2016 - here’s your first post, from 2009:

I’m glad to see you still have the car, and are working on it.

I’ve excerpted two pages from the 1959 Plymouth service supplement, and attached here:
59-Part-3_Section-2_Accessories.pdf (921.8 KB)

It’s not much help, but there is a diagram. I’m quite sure that single black wire is the power lead - the chassis of the radio is ground, and is grounded when connected to the dashboard. I would have thought those two brown wires were the speaker wires, but you suggest the speaker wires are separate. Can you take a picture and post it here?

Keep those cards and letters coming!

Dan

Looking at radio is the black wire power and two brown wires connect to two wires from speaker ???

Sorry, @ginog01, I misread your initial post - you mean to say there is a pair of wires that connect to the speaker, and a pair of brown wires coming out of the radio. Correct, these wires connect. Since the speaker coil is electrically isolated from the dash, which radio wire in the pair goes to which speaker wire doesn’t matter.

And yes, that black wire is the power wire. You want to make sure there’s a fuse in the line (the diagram indicates it should be a 7.5A fuse) - you don’t want to directly connect it to a hot line under the dash.

Yes, that seems to be the connection. I will give it a try and fingers crossed . :crossed_fingers: thank you that was very helpful ! Next is the trans and diff fluid change and early next year we are restoring to original interior fabric with buckles !!!

Awesome! If you’re going to order from SMS, I’d place your order now - if you’re very lucky, you’ll have your material by next year. They are notoriously slow. BTW, if you don’t yet have your buckles and door end caps, Benny Buckner has a contact who makes them.

I have all the fabric and vinyl to restore all end caps and buckles are here also . Can’t wait to get rid of disintegrating foam :joy:

Okay, black wore connected to power with fuse , two other wires connected to speaker, key turned on , nothing…… that was disappointing.. either the wires aren’t correct or the radio stopped working, therefore the new cassette radio installed in glovebox, which doesn’t work either and disposed of years ago … :face_with_diagonal_mouth:.. back to the drawing board ….

Do you have a VOM, @ginog01? I’d check for power at the fuse, to see if the radio’s being energized.

I do and will check it.. thanks again for all the responses !

Gino
