The cars a bit further on than this so i will get some more picks.
Can you still buy front and rear glass ruber seals for these cars?
This old car is taking some ironing out AND SOME SERIOUS METAL WORKING!
It didnt look too bad till i started taking the paint off!
I had to remake the rear wheelarch, the trailing quater, about 12" of the lower quater before the wheelarch then i found all the structure in the lower quater was dust and someone had cut a 3 foot hole in the rocker pannel and glued a horrid bit of steel in its place with sealer so that meant remaking the sill!
Then i started poking holes in th inner sill so i had to remake that so now i have the front floors to contend with and the webbing under that!
Does anyone know were i can get this webbing?
WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
I will keep you all updated on the cars progress from now on, talk to you all later.
Lookin’ good Matty… I sure am envious of you folks with an actual garage to work in! REALLY hard to get anything done outside in the open but just can’t afford anything else right now… Great job on the metal work there Matty!
This is were i work so its ideal in some ways but not in others.
Its been a long time since i posted any info on this site regarding my car, but i will be continuing with the car on 5th of january so i will post some stuff then, not really looking forward to the other side as it is going to be as bad if not worse than the other side! Still never mind, i will show u guyys with little bodwork know how how to make lets say a wheelarch with no fantastic equipment
anyways till then all the best for christmas guys!

Hey thanks for the great information, didnt realise you could get all those seals still! merry christmas from me in the uk! ![]()
Am looking forward to your and Ron Keij’s progress reports and pictures. Any skills you can pass on would be appreciated. I’m kind of a self taught amature at this panel business as well as most of the rest of the resto process.
thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Everyone Steve P.S. Good Luck With The Car!!
Heres some picks taken today, showing how i formed the lower quater pannel i will post more good stuff as i go along.
cant upload em why?
Youre doin a good job! Stay with it!
I am trying to show that making certain pieces of a car is not really hard, its time consuming more than anything,
so anyone with half a brain can do it, if anyone needs advice on how they should go around fabricating with basic tools i will try and assist!. not too many 59s in the uk i would say less than ten so its really worth the effort to get this old car up and running again.
When it’s done I wanna see it! ![]()
Have you been to the uk before? Theres a big show in summer called AMERICANA INTERNATIONAL, its a four day event lots of old cars and stuff to see, theres a 59 two door that goes every year its a nice example but needs a bit here and there, they are so rare over here anyway if theres anyone over here that has a 59 or any 50s or 60s car that needs work we would be glad to assist as we repair/ restore old cars for a living ![]()
I’ve been in London for a couple days.
Last year i’ve been in Manchester for about an hour. Was a stop on my flight to Philly.
This year I will be in London again for a few hours.
When is that meet?
Maybe something to drive the 59
or my Astra
Its in july at a place called newark, just type americana international into your pc, theres plenty of picks and stuff. Were did you find those lower quater sections? I looked on ebay for ages and found nothing ![]()
