I found my A Body wagon! '63, slant 6, pushbutton automatic. More to come.
Looking good! 170 or 225 CID?
It’s a cast iron 225, Rick!
freeze plugs tell the tale - an iron block
Yes - the engine was rebuilt - two years ago. But alas, there’s oil dripping from the torque converter housing!
I’ve other got a loose oil pan, or - as I suspect - a bad or improperly installed rear main seal. If push comes to shove and it needs to be replaced - can it be done on a lift without removing the engine? Or, transmission?
****Freeze plugs give that away, no freeze plugs aluminum block.
****I think both can be performed on the lift pan is easier when the trans is removed.
It turns out, it was just a leaky pan gasket! Look, Ma - no leaks. A couple of weepy rear brake cylinders, but now that is remedied, the brakes are in great working order. It’s a driver!
