Two weeks ago I was asked to loan my car for an event at the Colorado Convention Center that had a Senior day event for 50 & 60’s TV shows. Jerry Mathers was the main speaker from the old Leave it to Beaver TV show.
I was not able to attend due to my work schedule but my car was able to be one of 6 cars on display there. My car seems to have a better social schedule then I do!!!
Yep Dick. I am suppose to be enjoying these later years of work kinda winding down from my career but I guess there is still lots to do yet before I am put out to pasture!
That’s great John, good for you! Late last summer my 61 Chev was featured in a calendar for an organization called Pin up for a Cure, it turned out really good!
I liked the show to John. my brothers and I would just watch episodes one after another in the 60’s. My Mother wanted to know why we could not be as nice and clean as the Cleavers are!
About an hour ago I read in the paper that Jerry Mathers turns 65 tomorrow - Kids today!
Then a few minutes ago I turned on TV and stumbled across “Pulp Fiction” just before the scene where they go to JackRabbit Slim’s and lo and behold, there’s a blue 59 Belvedere convertible right behind where Travolta sits for dinner.
That inspired me to check in on this website and now everything seems to fall into place. There must be a reason.
Yep, I went with the Dan Morton Port-a-Wall style Wide White walls with regular P215-75R-14 tires, Still keeping to how the car would look One year after an owner would have bought it. I figured the “Mythical” owner would have been cheap and went this route. And since I am cheap too…I went this route!!!
Plus, I was told that they would show my car at the Colo Convention Center only if I did something to the raised white letter tires I had on the car. So that was the final push I needed to get with it and spend some dollars on new tires to be complimentary to the car and its era.
I did ponder trying to borrow a set from another FL guy here in town but never did ask him to see if he would let me “borrow” his White Wall Set.
You know I should send you something for the idea…let me think about that…
They look good and I have money in the bank for not spending a lot more dollars on them by going the “Morton Look” instead of the Coker re pop versions!
Now I can get the deluxe knee instead of the cheap knee on the 18th with the money I saved! LOL
And it was the 75R not a never heard of 74R model!
