Installing A/C on a Poly 318

Recently Dick Koch installed an air conditioning system in his '59 Sport Fury with a 318 motor. Here’s how he did it.

Poetry in Motion!

The drilled and tapped heads are original 59.

They were used for original AC systems or the compressor for the air suspension on the rear axle. My dad has the same head. Not sure if they were throwing on heads with and without the holes or it was also build plant related.

I’ve seen more 59’s with those heads

My 318 doesn’t have them.

But then, my 318 is from a ‘58

I wonder if my old block had drilled heads (now in Barry’s ‘59 convertible )…

“For those who don’t have tapped head bosses, it may be possible to drill and tap two holes in the head by removing radiator - l can provide precise location measurements.”
How can we get those measurements?
thank you

Why, from Dick Koch, of course! I will alert him to your inquiry, and ask him to provide them here. Stay tuned!

Dan

Dick made a template - from a spare head, I suppose - and made the measurements. Here you go. Thanks Dick!

Fantastic info here. This will be a winter project for me I hope.
