Hello everyone. Was browsing the net for info on these beauties and stumbled upon this forum.
I’m from South Africa. And 2 weeks ago became the proud owner of a 1959 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door sedan.
The car is in a fairly good condition. Its a RHD model. White with a blue line down the side.
The car had been mostly parked off for a few years by the previous owner. Guy just took it down the road and back every now and again.
Unfortunately, when he bought it from the owner before him, the engine and gearbox had been taken out, and he fitted in a Ford Windsor 351 and automatic gearbox.
She drives well. I’ve driven her a few times in the last 2 weeks and even attented a Car Show where many heads were turned!
Anyway, I’m glad to have joined this forum. And hope to learn many new things.
Oh btw… My other classic car is a 1937 Dodge D5 sedan.
Congratulations on the purchase, and welcome to this site! There are a few folks here who do most of the daily or weekly chatting, while the rest lay low, read the comments, and occasionally throw in a comment.
A Ford drivetrain in Plymouth..is that a column shift then, or on the floor?
Welcome to this great site…your right, many beautiful cars here.
would love to see your car. If your car is Right hand drive then it would
most likely have a Dodge dash board…I also have a right hand drive 4 door
pillarless Hardtop as I live in Australia and they all used the Dodge dash from 58.
Really good pictures of a very clean-looking driver. I hope it provides years of enjoyment!
The car has the fancy and desireable Sport steering wheel.
The floor shift doesn’t bother me…looks to have been installed intelligently.
What does the car use for parking brake, since the original Ply tranny w/ brake was removed?
I’ll have to get back to you on the parking brake We still have the original parking brake lever though.
Desirable steering wheel? Wow. Never knew. Thats awesome.
We had some bushes made up for the front suspension last week. But I will be updated this thread on progress of her restoration. Want to keep her as is for now. Maybe fit a set of wheels later. And maybe a colour change alot later. I love the wheels that aussie59plymouth has on his car! I’m going for a similiar look.
Btw, can I get this thread moved to “Show Your Ride”?
Welcome to the site Kaveen! I do have a better idea, just open a new topic in the “Show your ride” section and fill it with pictures Or send pictures to me with a short story about yourself and the car and I will make you a page in the Showcase. You can find the showcase in the new website Home - 1959 Plymouth Gallery
