Cruising with the Cruise Brothers - Roosendaal, August 12, 2012

Today we had a great day as we went cruising with the biggest (Dutch) US car club. I am not a member of any club in the Netherlands but I do like to go to all kinds of events and as we had beautiful weather todat we decided to join them. As I wrote in the chat this morning I am in their club magazine posing between the 2 Sport Fury’s on a double paged picture and that same picture is on their membership card :sunglasses: Kind of strange to know that all these drivers have my picture in their wallet  I will post pics of the magazine and the membership card when I have made a good picture of them.

Now I will only post some pictures we made today. We left home around 10.30AM to go to McDonalds in Roosendaal where we had some coffee and apple pie first before we started. They had some rules to explain first, there was one leader and the car behind him was supposed to block the first intersection and wait until everybody had passed and follow the last car. A great system and it works really well, we had 35 cars and we never lost one of them during the 3 1/2 hour trip. And the last stop was at the restaurant at the end of our street (about 1/4 mile), we stayed for a meal there and Matthew walked home to get the convertible to show off a little. We are waiting for new tires as the old ones are no good and have developped bumps on all sides of the tire. But enough words, lets go to the pictures…

Here are the first pics

Looks like a good time was had by all!

Did Matthew ever return with his car? Or is out cow tipping? I saw a few cows that were tipped over…Just wondering.. :unamused:

John Q.

Looks like fun for all, great pictures and scenery. Matthew can tip all the cows he can find.

If I ever get another classic car, please remind me what tires NOT to buy, as I have heard nothing but horror about the tires I put on the Keij cvt.

We have ordered new tires, Diamondback 2. Heard good storeis about them and they were faily priced, they will be expensive when they arrive here with the shipping and tax.

Ron

Matthew did not tip over any cows this weekend, he just enjoyed the scenery sitting in the passenger seat. Next weekend we will have another show, we will drive to Belgium for a 1000 car show in Spa.

Ron

Awesome pix, Ron! And I miss seeing the windmills. I think it’s time for Mary Kay and I to start planning our next visit…

Speaking of which, are we going to see you at Thanksgiving?

Dan

Hi Dan,

Please start planning! We will not be there for Thanksgiving, we will be travveliing to the US in October. Just booked our tickets and we will be in Florida from October 28 until November 10th. We got such a good price that I bought the tickets right away but that means that we won’t be coming to Philly this year. We are running out of money, I had to buy a car to go to work and Marjo will have to buy another car as hers was in an accident. Matthew was driving and a women changed lanes without realizing that there could be other cars on the road :smiling_imp: Matthew was fine but the car has a lot of damage, more than it’s worth. We will be coming over next summer though, after missing Carlisle 2 years in a row we have to be there for the 2013 edition.

Tomorrow we will be in Belgium, no rain expected and according to the forecast it’ll be the warmest weekend in the last 75 years! Stay tuned for the pictures..

Hi Ron - What part of Florida?? Can I expect a visit.
Dick.

Hi Dick,

We haven’t planned a complete route… We will be flying to Jacksonville and make the trip through Northern Florida to Pensacola in one week, if the Blue Angels are not coming to us we will go there to see them. Then we are going to the Orlando area for the second week, hoping to rent a villa with a nice pool there. As it is pretty close to WPB you might find us on your doorstep one of these days

Ron

Go to the aviation museum on base at the Pensacola Naval air station there. They have a wonderful collection of Aircraft there. Or at least they did in 1978 when I visited there!

The Old aircraft carrier the USS Lexington (CV-16) was there back then as a training ship for young naval aviators to get there Carrier certifications but I think it has since been relocated to another port as a memorial tourist ship. I believe it is in Corpus Christi, TX..

Figured Matthew would still be off with his carload of beauties from the previous show. Great pics Ron.

Congratulatiions, Steve!. You had my old- brain completely fooled into thinking the Keijs went on ANOTHER cruise this week…Finally I noticed the posting date of LAST YEAR…
Did make me wonder if the cvt now has a dash pad…I couldnt collect the funds for it when it was in my garage.

In the words of that Tx Gov. Oops. Thought the last years cruise was kind a “deija vu”. Now all is revealed!!
