CONVERTIBLE PARTS

Ya’ll probably know this already but just in case!! I found this in Hemmings Motor News: They seem to be more comprehensive that some of the others.

I personally haven’t heard of these folks. I think I used convertible Specialists in FL. As matthew will testify, one of the pumps they sold me sprung a leak. I used all new fluid, pump and lines..

Did not know these guys either but another source can’t be bad to keep prices down on the convert parts.

I bought my new pump, hoses and cylinders from Convertible Service in San Gabriel, CA. This is the www.convertibleparts.com that Dick mentioned. I was pleased with the parts and the service. Everything is still working.

Tom - I have two sets of pumps and cylinders, one set I got from ebay, the other set was in the car exposed for at least 30 years. I’m thinking about haveing the ebay set rebuilt, what do you think.

Dick, what is the story with the ebay purchase? Are they original stuff or newer used? I would compare rebuild costs with new costs, and struggle with the difference. I went with new to best be protected from leaks or blowing a hose. I witnessed a hose blowing at a show while the guy was putting the top up and it made an awful mess and was rather embarrassing.

The set I got on ebay was so long ago I’ve forgotten the particulars. That is probably the set I will rebuild.
