Check out this one!

This one looks like a great deal!

Bob

Nighthawk, I agree completely. That is an amazing “survivor” car…well worth the current price of $6400 due to its originality and lack of rust.

Yes thats a great deal for sure, itll be interesting to see what it sells for and Dan will have to sign up the new owner to our little group here!

Also, this came up on ebay as well…

The seller says it for a 59 Plymouth,i emailed him and told him its definitely NOT for a 59 Plymouth, anyone know what its for, my guess is a Dodge or a Chrysler.

Bob

I’d say that is for a 59 Desoto…I had a 59 Fireflite 4HT a few years back, and the speedo had this constant readout thingy below the needle..when you’re in the Green, you are driving reasonably, when it runs into the “red”, you may be exceeding the speed limit!
I dont think the Dodge had this feature. I doubt Chrysler sported it either.

This is for sure a 59 DeSoto. The part # 1880509 is on the box which agrees with the parts book and is the same as my 59 Adventurer. There is no needle, as the cylinder turns it advances the color behind a slot and changes color around 55 MPH
Tom

thanks Tom, for the correction. I kinda miss my Desoto.
How are you enjoying the freezing rain?

I emailed the seller and told him what that speedo was for,he said thanks for solving the mystery, and hes made the necessary corrections on his listing.

Just another public service we all provide!

Bob

not much esle to do on a cold wintry day but surf the web and dream

My name is Todd Johnson and Iam the new owner of the 59 Plymouth Fury that was just listed on Ebay. You have a great site and I will be checking in for parts that I need for this car. I own a Classic Restoration shop in Mpls. Thanks www.classicironcars.com

Hi Todd, welcome aboard. I take it you will be restoring the Fury for resale?

Dan

wow, this guy does some rare and desireable cars! Now which Ebay Fury was this? anybody still have the link or pictures of its present condition? What was the winning bid?

the reason I am confused is the salmon-colored “unrestored” survivor Fury 's auction ended early..no bids.

I’m confused too, Roger. I emailed the seller asking what happened – no reply.

Unless, Todd was the seller!

Or, perhaps Todd struck a deal…

I dunno. What’s the scoop, Todd? And, do you plan to keep the car once you restore it, or will you be selling it?

Dan

Guys, I will be keeping this Fury and doing the restoration at my shop. I bought the car outside of Ebay as I do with many in my collection. Less hassel. This car will be used for parades and occasional family events. With a family of 6 I cant fit them all togather in any of the E or B bodys that I currently own. Thanks for the welcome. Once I get the car back to Mn I will see what it needs. Todd

Welcome aboard Todd,i hope you will enjoy our little group here!

Bob

The link is at the top of this thread Roger.

Bob

Judging from the EBay listing, the car will need little or nothing to join in parades, etc. Of course, the buyer may embark on a full or cosmetic restoration which, from my perspective, seems almost a pity since it looked so well preserved.
I wonder what the so-called hassle is in purchasing thru Ebay…Ebay represents the buyer, supposedly protecting them from bad deals, or so I’ve been told.
Oh well, whatever, welcome to the site! Send along some pictures when you can.
It will be of interest to all.
