Carlisle 2014

Well, Faulkner got a transfusion this morning (oil change) and a spanking new PortaWall. He’s all hosed down and ready for Carlisle.

Ken Morton and I got are signals crossed - he thought I was going this morning, but I don’t leave until tomorrow morning. I’ll meet up with him tomorrow. And I was going to meet Earl on the Pennsy Turnpike in one of his '59s, but he decided to bring his '33 Coupe instead. So I’m not sure how many '59s will be represented this year.

It was fun getting Faulkner ready, but I’ll admit to feeling a bit sad about going out myself. I wish you were still here, Matthew! Oh, well - Dick and John Q. have both sworn on their Exners that they’ll be trailering in next year, and hopefully Ron and Marjo will come and stay. I’ll be thinking of you all, and taking pix.

Dan

Late For The Sky

Make pics of all the 59’s! Hope some turn up.

Maybe I’ll be back next year. I need parts

Any pics of Forward looks?

Coming right up!

Well, I just missed Ken Morton, who went out on Friday and decided not to come to the fairground Saturday, it was so hot. But I did catch up with Jim Hamsher, who did see Ken on Friday. So, if Jim and Irene get around to emailing me some pix, I’ll Photoshop the three of us in a group pic!

There were a couple other '59’s at the show - the pix will tell the story. Faulkner ran strong all the way out and back, and I didn’t lose a PortaWall this time! I guess, because I kept it between 65 and 70…

On the way to Carlisle

Just because a guy has an expensive camera around his neck, doesn’t mean he’s qualified to take a good picture

My next car

John Q’s next Project!!

Survivor’s Tent!

Pull over, Matthew…

Lest we forget…

Jim Rawa’s latest creation

Dieter Bauer’s lovely '60 Fury

Gotta love those chrome fender skirts!

When what to my wondering eye should appear… A '59 Fury!

A little beat, but it runs… He wanted $8K for it, I told him he’d be lucky to get 4 - he said he’d take it!

If anyone’s interested, here’s his card

Some AMC muscle

(sigh)… Always a '58 (and now, a '60) - never a '59

Damn. All the bumper wings, fresh out

You don’t see everyday…

The Showroom

An amazing find. This car belonged to a rich family in Beverly Hills, who gave it to their maid to run errands, pick up the kids from school, etc. Extremely low mileage - bought by a man whose last name is Kennedy, had it shipped to these folks to be restored. Keep on the lookout for it!

Oops - a little seat tear

What, no embossed Fury emblem?!

Yeah, it’s got a Poly

(sigh)… Time to head on out for home

It’s taillights to Carlisle, until next year…

No breakdown lane at Valley Forge this year!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Dan. Really makes me miss the show, but once again - way too hot for me :frowning:
I hope all is well - we miss seeing everyone.
Curt

Looks like I missed some great cars.

What was the VIN of that white SF?
Also noticed the buckles are missing on the rear seat

Jeez-o-flip, Matthew! I forgot to snap a pic of the VIN… Sorry.

Dan, thanks for the pictures. I noticed the buckles missing also. The rubber bumper guards front and rear indicate a California car.
Dick

The embossed “Fury” on the package tray flap is also missing.

Tom

If we are picking this car apart

Doesn’t look like original strips between the headliner panels
Hood hinges are black
Air cleaner should point to the left side of the radiator so the hump in the air cleaner would clear the gas line
Underside of the hood is white instead of the grey
Was the rear view mirror the place to put that card for the instructions for the remote driver side mirror?

Dick, I have seen cars all over the country with the optional rubber bumper guards. Tony DiCenso’s original Colorado car has them too. There was even the Switzerland build white convertible that had them. Just an option to enjoy the chrome bumpers a bit longer for the women driving their 59’s

Thanks for posting. It looks like I missed some really nice cars.
Carlisle is 325 miles away from me… about a 6 hour easy drive.
I was not able to attend this summer due to an health issue in the family.
