Noticed in their list of cars that Lot 974.1 is a '59 Sport Fury. According to schedule it will sell Friday, Jan 18. Anybody know who the owner is? I’m guessing it might be the late Jesse Ruffalo. He had a white over blue one. I’ve seen it at Iola and it is a CA car with original interior. After his death his family stated that some of his cars were going to Barret-Jackson this year.
John, do you have a link to the car in the auction?
Dan
Sorry Dan, I’ve been away from computer all week. According to lot # car was sold today (Fri) I wasn’t home to see it on TV so am curious to see what it went for.
Looking at the results on the BJ website, it appears the car sold for$40,000

Here’s the link to the car:

Thanks Dan - I was wondering what brought that price, I do have a couple of questions though. My red and white SF had factory AC which I intend to put back in the car. I don’t think they had alternators available for 59 and what happened to the Vacuum tank. The vacuum tank on my 60 desoto is mounted under the battery but I am not sure there is room on the SF to mount the tank there.
Dick.
Something else I just noticed. The extra wide ledges on the inner side of the fenders that the hood rests on. What’s up with that. Anybody??
Dick.
Also the hood hinges are different than any I have ever seen on a 59 Plymouth.
Tom
Just noticed that now too Dick, never seen one like that either…

Hi Boys,
this picture was probably misplaced. It doesn’t look like a 59 Plymouth to me. Just take a closer look and you’ll see!
- Red – this air inlet goes around the corner and has vertical inlets, ours ends before the edge and has horizontal inlets
- Yellow – this is not the way our inner fender runs
- Blue – this seam is very high (almost behind the valve covers) has two edges, ours is lower, round and has therefore only one edge (yeah you can see here that I’ve spent more time under the car than inside!
) - Green – definitely not our hood latch
- Pink – Valve Cover? No “waves” in it!!! Looks like a 318 but Wedge not Poly.
Stefan
I agree with you Stefan, I also notice that the radiator part # is a later model beginning with 190479-
My two Plymouths have part # 1832691 and 1832672 which agrees with my 59 parts book. Maybe some one with a later model parts book could find the 19 number a see what year it was used.
Tom
That is a pic of a mid-60’s Mopar..Polara or something..looks like it has concealed headlights…at any rate, it isnt a 59 Plymouth!
