Barn find '59 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible

Hi, I don’t own a '59 Sport Fury convertible but there is one in my garage. A friend of mine recently passed away and this car was his father’s. I’m in the process of sprucing it up and getting it roadworthy for his wife and kids. The car was originally mint green but now sports a white paint job and non-original upholstery. There’s a lot of rust underneath but for all that I think we will end up with a nice driver quality car when we are done. The car sat since at least 2003, so it’s taking some effort to bring her back to life. It’s got the poly 318 with a Torqueflite, pedal operated wipers, swivel buckets, power seat and power windows. We brought the car back here to Lansing, Michigan from Worthington, Ohio and work is progressing.

So far, we have replaced the tires, the master cylinder, all hard brake lines, all flex lines, all wheel cylinders, rebuilt carb, flushed and sealed gas tank, replaced fuel pump, replaced the water pump, re-cored the radiator, changed power steering fluid, trans fluid, oil and diff lube, new battery, done a lot of polishing and cleaning, and much more is in store.

Lots of pictures for you:

Thanks for the pictures,I love barn finds. They will have A very nice and RARE car when it is done.Again thanks for the posts and keep at it. Mark

Norm,

That really looks like a decent car, especially from being in the rust belt!

Looks good! Can you post the VIN for my 59 SF database?

I can make a list with most of the options if you want

Matthew, apparently I don’t have this forum set to ping me with responses, so I didn’t see yours. M293103976

Also, if you’re interested in seeing more about this car, there are LOTS of pictures on Facebook showing progress on it. This link should work even if you do not have a Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10206858930805111.1073742157.1032037490&type=1&l=45f4ae98cc
