TRIP TO LAKE GREENWOOD, SC.

Post by Dick Koch »

Almost the whole family visited my niece In mid June who has a beautiful home on Lake Greenwood, SC. The closest town is a town with the name of 96. I'm not kidding 96, look it up. Greenwood, SC. is a much larger town just a few miles away. Not really knowing how to get to my final destination I took Highway 25 into Greenwood and lo and behold I came across an old car junkyard right next to the highway just south of town. It was all locked up and I could not find anyone that knew the owner or how to get in touch with him. I left a couple of calling cards but haven't heard anything yet. The five pictures of a 53 ? Plymouth and a 53 Ford were in a field I found on the way to visit an ancestral home in Tompson, Ga. built by Thomas Ansley in 1785 (On my mothers side, Lois Ansley). The house is now a National Historic Site. It was constructed of Georgia Granit with two foot thick walls. Just a few blocks down the road I came across a headstone which marked the family graveyard. Hard to believe the house is 229 years old and still standing. You can Google it for more info if you are interested.
See the pitchuhs,
Dick.

Best I can tell the cars are:
Early 50's Hudson.
62 Chevy Inpala.
60 ? Pontiac.
55 Mercury.
58 Chevy.
63/64 ? Comet.
59 Ranchero.
50 Chevy.
52? Chevy Station Wagon.
Early 50's Cadillac Seville.
61/62 Chrysler,
56 Chrysler.
Couple of Pontiacs,
55 Desoto. Most restorable of the Lot.
1962 Chrysler Letter Car.
19?? Studebaker.

Lighting and Thunder like crazy so sending these pictures, more to follow.

A lot of old Detroit Iron in that yard, Judging by the newness of the white open car trailer parked in the yard, you came across someones personal stash. Some neat valuable cars in that yard for sure...
