I have heard so many excellent reports on the additive AT-205 Re Seal product for stopping oil leaks on oil seals(rubber). However I am wondering if they work on the old style rope seal in the 318 Poly engines in our 59s etc. Don.

Don - Most oil additives are formulated to swell rubber seals. Assuming rope seals are organic i.e. sisal or hemp I doubt an additive would have any effect. Try asking GOOGLE the guestion.

Replacing rear main seals on our favorite choice of vehicles is an easy endeavor. Changing from **rope seal to two piece neoprene** is okay also. KD Tools make a handy to use seal replacement set, well worth the money. I have no preference of type of seal and use both.
