Jo-Han typically makes the best Chrysler product models, but their tan 59 SF is probably not one of them. Those hood scoops were never seen on an actual production car. And the red promo looks like soft plastic, it shows in the roof. Probably better that way, if it has to take a lot of abuse from kids.
The first one i customised (spelling?). You could buy Jo-han custom packages. They included (from what i saw on cars): Those hood things, Mirrors, Dual rear antenna’s, Fender skirts, Stickers.
I don’t can come up with more now.
The second one is like the real thing. All of those “original” models are wrapped. Some slightly but some of the really heavily. I saw on that almost had an angle of 90* from the hood to the trunk. That is for 99% the reason the top is looking like that
Sorry, I didn’t know that you put the tan car together yourself. I had a habit of building stock models when I was little, and my best models were a 1966 Sport Fory and '67 Imperial, both by Jo-Han. I still have that Imperial model, with its full-width tail light panel I painted red myself.
A person can still find those “promos” at the Portland Swap Meet..presently they go for $75-$100. (By “wrapped”, Mr Keij meant warped.)
I am a little suspicious of this model being offered on eBay. The model name is wrong, as Savoy is the entry-level series in 1959. And, the roofline looks more like a hardtop. I could not see any rear side window dividers that are normally found on 1957-59 two-door sedans. Your verdicts, please…
