In 1959 The Dodge Sales Brochures state The Ramfire 326
has 255 HP @ 4400 RPM’s ( using the Carter AFM ). Did
this really happen or was it an marketing dream ?
Hi Rodger, that one i will have to ponder a bit. I am in an airport in Dallas heading home. I will check it out. I thought the Canadian Dodge Mayfair had a different cubic inch rating but do not have any catalogs with me.
Rodger, The 318 four-barrel would do it @ 4600 RPM.The 326 had more compression so I would not doubt the ability to produce this amount of work. I have never seen a 326 four-barrel AFB It would be an easy installation. FYI The weak link in the A engine is the connecting rod, I wouldn’t worry about any problems at these low RPM ratings. These are also flywheel HP ratings. The LA 340 Four-barrel is 14 cubic inches larger produced 275 hp @ 5000 RPM with a hydraulic lifters and poor rocker gear.
