A fan of the Fury!

Post by FuryFan »

Hello I just joined, always liked the '59 cars and also when I was young my dad had one so that is also a reason for my liking them so much!

A question for the members:

RE: 1959 Sport Fury, an optional 395 361 Golden Commando car. The deck lid has a gold-hued "V" emblem, question: Did all Sport Fury models have the "Gold" V or just the 361 engine cars?

Was there silver Vs that went with normal 318 engines…

Appreciate your help!

Also on the LH side of the emergency brake there's a small little tab with a white rubber pad, what is the function of that? The push button transmission buttons I notice there's no park position. Just trying to learn a bit more about these cars. TY

Welcome!

Hope this helps,
The gold V on the deck lid was on all V8 cars. 318 or 361. There weren't silver V's.
The tab with white rubber pad is the foot pedal for the windshield washers.
No Park in the transmission, the car has a neutral safety switch so it can only start in neutral. The hand brake is a small drum between the transmission and the drive shaft.
Just ask any question you have!

Much thanks! I appreciate the quick reply. On power steering cars, what was the diameter of the steering wheel?

I'll have to measure but I guess someone can better measure in inches.
There is the standard steering wheel and the deluxe. Think the deluxe was a little bit bigger

Great, also, how to include photos on this board? I see the img feature however don't remember how to use it…

I also would be most interested if there's any members with the "Canadian" cars on here, with the different front ends.

When you post a reply you have a tab under the box where you typ in.
The tabs is "upload attachment"

I know there was 1 but he sold it a while ago.
Not too many known. I've seen them on pics but only have been in contact with 3 or 4 owners.
I collect VIN numbers of the 59 Plymouths and 1 have 3 if I remember correctly
