Re: My New Project

Welcome to the site from the east coast. If you are replacing the master cylinder firewall reinforcing plate, and don't want the old one any longer, I could use a good one... long story why, but there's a need.

Thanks,

Bernie

Re: WHY NO PLYMOUTHS IN THE 1959 DAYTONA RACE?

Glad the Daytona thread was revived, and your mention of Dave Marcis et al Wisconsion racers brings to mind this memory. I only went to Daytona once, in 1976 - well known for the last lap crash of Richard Petty and David Pearson. I was sitting in DePalma grandstand, at the head of pit row, watching ...

John,

Your car looks great, congratulations! And it sits at "just the right height."

Re: 59 SF Convert for sale in San Diego

John, I see some cylinders that must be part of the ad-on AC, and maybe a late-model horn? Is that at GM alternator, too? Quite a bit of stuff under the hood, kinda surprised they didn't paint it red too, everything else got the one-color treatment! Wonder if anyone else was aware of this car before...

Re: Is there any Piping used Anywhere on the Seats Fabic

Per Roger's request I took a look at my OEM passenger seat - from outside, with a flashilight; cannot get next to the car right now. The only piping I see is the full hoop around the seat back, the rest are regular sewn seams, at least as I call them. Checked the showcase, there are several good exa...

Re: Chrysler Action Magazine (Aust)

How can we get some copies of that magazine here in the states? Group buy, anyone? Is this magazine connected to MoPar Action in anyway, especially since MA said they would probably do a feature on the car in an upcoming issue. One thing about MA magazine, sometimes it takes a long time for the feat...

Re: Chryslers on the Murray 2012 Australia

The MoPar Action magazine that Daniel mentioned is out now - and the car is pictured twice, once close up, and with the promise of a feature article in the future. This is one of, if not the best, MoPar themed magazines in existence. The magazine has a cover date of October 2012 but came in the mail...

Re: 59 Sport Fury convertible for sale - 35,000 original mil

Another point about the low serial number of this car, it does not have lower rocker stainless mouldings which became standard equipment on Sport Furys in mid-October 1958, which goes along with Matthew's observeration of the low number. It was likely built in September or early October 1958. Some e...

Re: Early Hemi Racing

John, you're brutal! 40!!! How about a compromise, just 5 lashes with a set of NOS 241 Dodge Hemi plug wires... get it over quicker (do the math.) Actually, I almost bought a 54 Dodge Hemi before getting my SF long ago... don't think there are any internet groups for 54 Dodges though, but haven't lo...

Re: Early Hemi Racing

Oops again! Wow, gotta fact check before typing. Shirley Mudlowney's new "grocery getter" Plymouth street rod is powered by a blown engine alright, but with funny looking valve covers. Not a Hemi... just a Chevy. Guess Steve using the word "Hemi" in his subject line had the desir...

Re: Early Hemi Racing

You jogged my memory about the only time I went to Evans Mills speedway, far up in New York near Canada... I was "visiting" Camp Drum for two weeks in the summer of 1973. We went to this nice track, think it was 3/8 mile, and one Petty-inspired 57 Plymouth with a slant six ran pretty good,...

Re: WHY NO PLYMOUTHS IN THE 1959 DAYTONA RACE?

Here's a little more info on the 1959 Plymouth in NASCAR and Daytona Beach speed runs. First appearance of a 59 Plymouth was by Lee Petty at Trenton, NJ on May 17th, 1959. After the Daytona he continued in Oldsmobiles and most of those races were in the 57, not the 59 that won the 500. Richard Petty...

Oops - correction on the 1/2 mile speed of Andy Granatelli in the 1962 Chrysler. Only 134, not 145 as I thought. Just found a video of it on YouTube. I try to be accurate.

Re: WHY NO PLYMOUTHS IN THE 1959 DAYTONA RACE?

You have quite a pedigree in MoParville! Have you visited the museum? The paperwork you speak of is very special, and you are right about its preservation. So much has been written about the 300F GTs by people who know them well I cannot really add much except to say I've been aware of them for well...

Re: WHY NO PLYMOUTHS IN THE 1959 DAYTONA RACE?

With possibly a few exceptions 300E defiinitely had only 1.60 exhaust valves, There was something on the Forward Look site a year or two ago about a special program where Chrysler snuck modified 300E engines into a couple convertibles, blue and white paint schemes, Windsor body I think. Engines had ...
