Re: Sport Fury Convertible

Here's a link to the auction, lots more photos - and sorry for the previous double-posting. A bit rusty with the keyboard, I was.

Sport Fury Convertible

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/plymouth/fury/1627300.html Saw this car listed for auction in today's Hemmings. This is the car Tom White, well known restorer, picked up at Carlisle in 2007 and redid it a bit... but much of it remains as it was, including the oddities of no dash pad,...

Re: Hibernation ends after 21 years

1967 was a great year to buy a 1959 Plymouth as your first car... I got mine three months before you did, but you're beating me on the return to "health" by... quite a bit.

Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!

Re: Dick's convertible project

Looking real good, Dick - really good! Congratulations, and thanks for posting all the steps and issues for others to gain from. You should compile a book or CD when done, best seller for sure. A couple questions - What color did you paint it? Ultra bright white? Looks much whiter than Iceberg white...

Re: What is it!!!!!!! The car it is :) Who likes a challe

It is definitely a '52 based on the location of the "V8" emblem over the wheel well. I knew it was a 52-54 Ford immediately from the shape of the wheel opening/ fender profile/ headlight ring. Seriously, took about 2 seconds, and then saw the hub cap and was convinced. I hope you don't thi...

I'd like to start the guessing as a 1952 Ford - Challenges welcome and interesting. Thanks!

Re: 1959 Belvedere Convertible

Thanks for the additional notes on your cars and the good old days (I tend to over use that term, but there is truth there.) There is a listmember who has some video of his Viper-powered Belvedere going down a track out west on YouTube, and maybe even linked through this website, not sure. Maybe oth...

Re: 1959 Belvedere Convertible

Interesting info about your car... what kind of times did it turn back in your racing days? My convert was just set up for bracket racing (for those not familiar with drag racing, It is trying to predict your elapsed time -after a few time trials- to determine your handicap start compared to your co...

Re: 1959 Belvedere Convertible

Hey Roger, thanks for the plug. But I never saw another 59 Plymouth on the drag strip since I last had mine out in 1976. This car is off my radar, such as it was (old magazines, Drag News and National Dragster newspapers dedicated to the sport.) But to have been raced in a super stock class was quit...

Re: Cherry 59 Belvedere Convertible

You should be able to find WIX air filter #42070 which is an exact replacement for the AFP-10 original filter. Glad you found and are enjoying this nice car! What part of Texas is the car in? Houston area by any chance? Welcome to this group, too. Been a little while since I read any posts, sorry fo...

Re: Leave it to Beaver star Jerry Mathers likes 59 Plymouths

Timing is everything, John - About an hour ago I read in the paper that Jerry Mathers turns 65 tomorrow - Kids today! Then a few minutes ago I turned on TV and stumbled across "Pulp Fiction" just before the scene where they go to JackRabbit Slim's and lo and behold, there's a blue 59 Belve...

Re: Charleen's new (rebuilt tranny).

Re the 383 RB, I beleive it was a two-year deal - many years ago a friend picked up a 60 Chrysler purely to junk it out, for the heavy weight, and on a whim I took the two-barrel manifold off. They were only on the 383 RB, and I know a 60 from a 59. Heaviest two-barrel carb manifold in existence I t...

Re: Mecum Auctions sells a SF cvt

It will be intersting if this one's serial number can be determined. Noticed the absence of lower rocker panel moldings, which would mean a very early car if original. But the lack of dash pad, and evidence of mounting holes suggests the dash is not original to the car. It does look pretty good in t...

Re: SFC 4 sale Massachusetts

That's the one I pointed out on eBay quite a few weeks ago, believe it sold for $8700 or so. Nothing further to report, feedback for the sale hadn't been posted last time I looked a few weeks ago. FYI, that black and red SF hardtop from New Jersey also sold recently, in early January I think. Hope t...
