Re: Heater parts

The reason your parts car vacuum switch won't "work" is both the tubing connection pattern and the internals of the switch are different. Your a/c car has different vacuum cans operating different "flaps" on the air distribution system. You may not be able to get the air to flow ...

Re: Heater parts

If you don't mind clarifying: you are discussing two separate heater control devices...1) the water control valve 2) the pushbutton vacuum control. Regarding )1...Yes, the water valves are re-buildable. There was only one type..the A/C makes no difference, as the valve controls the flow of block coo...

Re: O'Reilly Auto Parts Denver Rod and Custom show last week

Interesting re: paint. Fixable.
I sometimes wonder if the circa '59 cars, like the brass era cars , are cars which have become"unrelateable" to the current mass media. Regardless, I wouldn't change a thing.

Re: Dick's convertible project

On the convertibles, originally there was a top well drain..a small brass? drain secured with two or three little screws right thru the top well and thru the floor of the car. I never did install it. What are your plans regarding this detail?

Re: Dick's convertible project

I see you have those plastic visor clips installed. Pardon me if I repeat old news, but they tend to break off at the threads. Tom Fox figured out how to tap a hole into each hook (where the threaded shaft used to be) and ran a screw into each. A little preventative action will save a big disassembl...

Re: Marks winter of "59"

The probable reason your clock doesnt work is the car battery was allowed to die at some point, this caused the contact points in the clock to fuse together. You may have luck opening the clock, un-sticking, and filing the points smooth. The other option is to send it out for conversion to quartz cr...

Re: Dick's convertible project

Setting aside comments on your progress to inquire: The UFO part...yes, it matches the cut-out on the window, but it's double-headed, whereas the actual window seems to have just the one end matching? The problem with reproduction window seals is they are not "flocked" as were the original...

Re: Bob Hinds' Sport Fury

Robert was the '59 Plymouth Tech Advisor when I bought my first '59 Belvedere ~1992. I know how difficult it can be to let one's pride and joy go, but when the time comes- and it comes for us all- one can only wish the car goes to someone who will fully appreciate and enjoy the car, and honor its fo...
