Re: 59 Sport Fury for sale in MN

Hi Mike,

I have several '59 project cars for sale, 4 wagons, a Fury 2-door HT, and a rough Belvedere convertible.

If you'd like any pics, let me know!

Re: chrome plating

He's in southern Ca. but is up here often.

He doesn't do anodizing, but will probably know someone that does. I had a hard time finding someone for the anodizing when I was doing my '59.

Re: Cannot get tranny out of neutral

Either the selector cable is frozen up from rust, or the manual valve in the trans is locked up. You'll need to disconnect the cable at the transmission to see which it is. Rusted up cables are somewhat common, but I've seen transmission fluid turn to varnish from setting many years, which will requ...

Re: Source for Brake Shoes

Gary, are you a member of the Forward Look network? There is a vendor by the name of Mobile Parts that has N.O.R.S brake linings that are the older asbestos type. Why asbestos? it seems the semi-metallic Raybestos linings cause a harmonic squeal when applied, I've had this happen to two of my own ca...

Re: Brake Line / Fluid

I've changed all my cars over to DOT 5 fluid, since it's non-hygroscopic it will not attract moisture into the system like conventional fluid. You'll need to replace any rubber part of the system to avoid contamination. I didn't use my '58 Dodge wagon for close to ten years, and when I pulled it out...

Re: Arrived today!

Looks good!! There aren't a whole lot of convertibles out there to choose from, looks like you did well. Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like parts of the floor reinforcement channels were removed when the patches were put in. If so, you'll need to remedy those before the body mounts are in...

Re: Marks winter of "59"

I've had good luck switching over to silicon brake fluid when I do a complete brake overhaul. No more seeping, rust in cylinders, grabbing brakes, etc, even after letting cars set for many years. Conventional fluid draws moisture from the air, and causes these problems. One downfall of silicon fluid...

How's $50 plus shipping?

You can call me at [530] 473-2225 to order by card, or use PayPal at bigmauto@colusanet.com I'll need your zip code to figure shipping.

I'm leaving for Colorado to pick up a couple cars on Sunday, so I'll be away a week.
