Re: Body plug inner quarter panel behind wheel

That's the one. listed in the parts catalog as "Extension, Rear Floor Pan Side" . Picture clearly shows a drain plug hole on the panel, but my 59 Fury does not have a hole there on either side. No repairs were done to these panels during the restoration process, and the rubber plug listed ...

Body plug inner quarter panel behind wheel

I just noticed (after 57 years of ownership) that there are no holes in the trunk floor well extension panels (behind the rear wheel) for a rubber body plug on my 59 Fury hardtop. My 59 Fury 4 door sedan parts car has the rubber plugs installed. Anybody know why the two are different? Rubber plug nu...

Re: Plastic strips for headliners found in Dodge Caravans?

Thanks for the part number, Dan. I'll see if I can get my friendly Dodge dealer to cross reference it for me. Surely there are some of these things in the local Pik-A-Part. Dennis

Plastic strips for headliners found in Dodge Caravans?

I've read on the forums here that some years of Dodge Caravans use plastic strips to secure their headliners, and that these strips will substitute for the factory pieces that hold up the headliners in 59 Plymouth hardtops. Every time I go to the salvage yards, I check all the Dodge Caravans for the...

Re: alternator conversion on 59 Fury

Thank you! I'm going to build one of these and see if I can't get my original light to work. Dennis

Re: alternator conversion on 59 Fury

This is great! Is it possible that you might post a sketch of the wiring diagram that shows how you did all of this? Thanks!! Dennis

Re: 59 Fury 1st rollout photo 2

Here's a shot of the finished interior and temporary steering wheel; the wheel is a combo of the remains of a '59 Plymouth center section with the wheel top and bottom rims that I cut from a 68 Plymouth Belvedere and welded on. I epoxy-ed the gaps with panel bond, smoothed everything out and painted...

Adapting "PARK" to 59 Fury

During my Fury's rebuild, I changed the 318/cast iron Torqueflite combo to a '68 383 and 727 Torqueflite from a '63 Chrysler 300. The 727, of course, has a "Park" function actuated by a separate cable. In order to made this function active on the car, and make the installation look more &q...

59 Fury 1st outing under power

Rolled the Fury out for a wash job, water leak tests (of course we found some), brake tests, and some "unofficial" rear tire traction tests--an inadvertent result of having too light a throttle rod spring(Yeah, right, I hear all of you saying) This photo is after the quick scrub, Photo 2 (...

Re: 59 Fury progress-continued

Yeah, I thought long and hard about how "original" I wanted the car to look before I started this project. The end result that I wanted to achieve was something close to what I would have done to it in 1967 if I had been able to afford it. Thus, the Magnum 500s, the subtly hot-rodded 383 a...

59 Fury progress-continued

Here's the 383 at the "rough-in" stage, before the A/C compressor and mounts were fully developed. Note the 61 vintage alternator, with its fewer ventilator slots. From a 61 New Yorker 413.

59 fury progress

Here's where we are on the Fury re-do that began in December of 2013. Still short a windshield, steering column, exhaust system. The interior is finished and ready to install, once all the little mechanical "thingies" get re-attached. The 383 engine and rear axle are from a '68 Road Runner...

headliner repair

I've been looking for a way to salvage my cardboard headliner in my Fury 2 door hardtop during the restoration process. I found some thin off-white pleated vinyl in a fabric store; the grooves are 1/8 rather than 1/4, but they lined up perfectly all across the section. There's no cloth backing, so t...

alternator conversion on 59 Fury

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of getting my 59 Fury back on the road. I swapped the 318 and cast iron Torqueflite for a 68 383 and '63 vintage 727. I've switched over to a '65 Mopar alternator and correct regulator, along with adding A/C. I want to keep my generator warning lamp if possible.I did ...
