Re: Power brake trouble

If it isn't a vacuum problem, I would check for a collapsed brake hose. I had a similar problem with my 59 Fury. Several mechanics told me it was the power booster. I wasn't convinced. Had all the brake lines replaced. That solved the problem.

I agree with John Q. Where in New Jersey? If it's anywhere near my house on Long Beach Island, it better have a marine engine!

Re: Ride height

Dick: Had my mechanic install the helper springs from Auto Zone ($32.99). Usually my son & I do these projects (he has a lift) but it's hard to find the time when we are both available. He charged me $30.00 which included greasing the car and lubricating all the bushings. The car sits perfect. F...

Re: I huffed & I puffed and blew the fire out!

You were lucky. I have a fire extinguisher in all of my classic cars and on the wall in my garage. Not sure the trunk is the best place for it. Mine are usually on the passinger's side floor if I'm alone. Or on the back seat. Once you see the flames or smell the smoke, you don't want to stop, take t...

Re: Ride height

Dick: I picked up a set of the leaf spring helpers last night at AutoZone. Thanks for supplying the part number. He couldn't find "59 Plymouth Fury in his computer (That was after doing a verbal questionaire re: Body Style, Engine, 2 or 4 barrel carb, a/t, ps pb everthing but the color). Gave h...

John Q.
Hey let me know if you come accross a source for those old helper springs. That's my last shot.

Hope all in well.

Re: Carlisle 2011!

I made my reservations for the hotel. Expect to bring the Fury. It has been repainted since my last trip to Carisle in 2009, but it looks the same as it did before. Maybe a little fresher and a whole lot less rust under the paint. Same crappy cracked dash. The horn still doesn't work. But hey I figu...

Update: I sent Gary Goers a fax on a Friday and mailed a check the same day. Received a Steering Shaft Insulator and Steering Tube Insulator the following Wednesday! How is that for service. Got my car back last night. What an improvement. I can actually keep this car in a designated lane. It's not ...

re: Andy Bernbaum: I called and he just said he didn't have it, as in a matter of fact and didn't offer any explanation. Unlike some parts supply houses in the South that actually checked around.
