Post by sallysavoy »

My Name is Mark and i recently bought a Savoy and am in the process of refreshing her for the road and i'm sure this is a repeat question but is there a source for brake linings and radiators other then rebuild or reline?
Thanks In advance

Hi Mark - Welcome to the site. Your best source for brake shoes is ebay, but make sure weather you have the early system or the late system. The shoes and cylinders and backing plate are different. Early is called single plane and late is called 3 plane. If you do not have a parts book or Manitenance Manual 57 -58 and supplement for 59 I suggest you get them, you can usually find them on ebay also. As far as the radiator, they are rare, your best bet is to have it recored because by the time you find one you will have to have it recored anyway. The FORUM usually has answers to any question you may have.
Good luck,
Dick.

By the way Mark, you may have been a "Just Another" before you found this 59 site but now you are a "Special New Member". How about some pictures of your car and some Vin Tag info so our friend Matthew can enter your car in his regestry.
Thanks,
Dick.

Welcome!

Mr Koch is spot on.
Can you post some pics including the VIN?
If the car has a data plate post a pic of that and I'll try to give you a lot more info about your Savoy.

Thanks Guys for all the welcomes, I've been in the shop workin on my Savoy so i haven't had the chance to look at the forum til today. As soon as the weather gets nice i'll post my pics and data for the registry. I'm getting closer to putting spark to fuel and can't wait to cruise her.
