If you wish to run an LA 318 in your car and keep the original transmission, you will need to install a poly-A 318 crankshaft [with extended crankshaft flange] into the LA 318.

As Ricky states, the appearance of these engines are not too similar, but the important internals are quite similar, sometimes same dimensions.

I prefer to keep the original engines in my cars, but was offering the crankshaft idea up for those that may have bought a car missing its original engine, and sold with the LA engine.

I have bought three such cars for the yard, and have seen many others for sale.
