Subject: Rebuilt fuel Sending Unit

I want to thank both of you for the leads that I needed to get my 1959 Plymouth station wagon fuel sending unit repaired. Andy@fuelsender.com and his company S.U.R.&R. in Akron, Ohio 44301 was most responsive and accommodating. I asked him to solder a ground lug onto the sender unit in addition to repairing it. I have attached pictures showing where I placed the ground wire on the body sheet metal and how it attached to the ground lug itself. I decided to use an external ground wire because the factory solution was to rely on the gas tank mounting straps for the ground loop needed to complete the circuit. Way too iffy for me.

I have also attached a picture of the make-shift tool I used for removing and replacing the locking ring used to hold the fuel sending unit onto the tank - simple, yet effective. I will complete the tool and will make it available to anyone that wants to borrow it. As you may remember, I have been looking for a factory tool for several years - unsuccessfully.

The details for mounting the external ground strap to the body is to use #8-32 screw, 3 internal star lock washers and one nut.
