Selling my 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury

Post by Tony »

Several months after I finished my ’65 Sport Fury convertible, I had a terrible of fall off a ladder breaking 6 ribs, a left lung puncture, and an unknown (after 4 months) left rotator tear. With 6 nights in the hospital, 21 days on O2, followed with the shoulder repair, the costs climbed. Seven weeks after the shoulder surgery, I had a massive headache (turned out to be a stroke, 3 more nights in the hospital) on New Year’s Day, 2016, due to a blood clot that passed through a hole in my heart to the left side of my brain. By that time, I had over $30,000 in bills. Two years ago I knew that I might have to sell both the Sport Fury and my ’41 Plymouth PT 125.

I bought my ’59 locally in October, 2002, from the 2nd owner, and the original 18 year old owner “Carol Jean” bought it on 9/3/59 in Colorado Springs. Since then, I got the 318 to run, repaired the brakes, and installed 4 new tires on 14” x 6” wheels. Collected many parts, including sheet metal, both used and aftermarket. One of the first parts repaired was the steering wheel, recast by D & D Automoblia (ask Ron Keij about his wheel). The bumpers have been straightened and chromed, including the rear guards. The original color was red, and the 1st owner re-upholstered the seats with all vinyl, but she installed the buckles in the buckets.

I had planned to covert the car from 318/cast iron TorqueFlite, to a ’68 Road Runner 383 (about 80% complete) and a ’63 cable shifted 727. I also planned to replace the tapered 8 ¾” shafts to ’68 Chrysler shafts with studs; plus front disc brakes which I never bought. The car needs a total restoration, Ron and Matthew Keij have seen the car in person, and Dan Morton once posted images on his website. I have a list of over 100 parts, body, engine, transmission, various small parts and stainless trim. The odometer reads 105774.
I’m asking $12,000 for the car, extra engine, transmission, and parts. Please contact me for more images or information only via at rockpick43@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Tony

Thanks for posting, Tony - I took the liberty of touching the pdf so that it would generate a representative thumbnail.

Wow, you have a valance?!? Those are like hen's teeth. Think about posting some parts pics as well.

Best of luck with your sale!

Dan

Hi Tony,

Sorry about your circumstances. What's the status of your '59? I'm on the market.

Thanks,
Joe

I sold my Sport Fury last month, the new owner took delivery several days ago. I still have parts leftover, a '68 HP 383, a '63 727, a hood and decklid, and about 10 or more correct '59 Plymouth wheel covers and 1 dog dish. If you have any interest contact me at rockpick43@yahoo.com.
