I managed to trim down the parcel shelf and have it sitting at 4inch above the well floor

Now just need to work out how to finish it off cosmetically

Nice job, that should do it. I don't know if you have considered or made poivisions for a drain in the top well or not but l do not have one in my car and so far haven't had more than 3 or 4 ounces of water, it's easily taken care of with a towel.

Ive seen discussions on this topic but i must say im not sure exactly where it goes

I assumed that the drip channel that runs along the bottom of the rear body frame to which the soft top connects onto (i.e. base of window) is there to collect the water which then runs to the sides of the car and down the front of the wheel arch - hence why its a typical rust spot

I tend to agree if water does get it ill soak it up - it will only happen perhaps when washing the car or getting caught in a shower

Vic - Try this on. Four small angle brackets rivited to the underside of the shelf and once painted will have a clean look, then stainless steel machine screws thru the wheel well. That way it can be removed if necessary.

Yes, any water that gets under the boot button strip runs in that channel and down the front of the wheel well to drain slots below the rear window and then to the rockers. Make sure those slots/holes are clear.

Thats exactly what i was thinking in relation to fixing it in place

I reckon i will still use the boot well liner to make sure no water gets onto the speakers/amps, i will then close off from the trunk side with grey boarding to match the inner linings of the trunk panels

Sounds like a plan.

Received my tissue box holder this week

Have played around and turned it into a holder for my new car radio

I've now got to cut screws and paint it black on the inside

Got my record player back today

Would you believe I couldn't find a #44 lamp here in SA so had to order from the USA

Without it the record player wouldn't work as it basically acts as a fuse
Hope this video works

What a great idea for the radio, I've been toying with the idea of putting one under the seat with a remote operator.

I too thought about this location but with the power seat motor there isn't that much space

I've ended up installing a vintage air a/c in lieu the under dash unit as I thought it was getting to crowded with the record player

Finished it up over the weekend and now getting ready to install the dash

I have also made up a matching control panel for the a/c switches with some spare dash trim I had

Not sure where to mount it as I'll need to set up everything first to see where it fits and if it looks good

Need to take some engine bay pics as I thought I had some

Also got my brothers 59 out of my parents garage over the weekend
Hadn't been started in years
Had to replace fuel hoses as they had gone brittle

Yes it's sat around for a while but when she's out on the road she still gets attention

I've used all the original outlet from the firewall and heater box so as to cut any any new holes

Pretty happy with the way it's turned out

Even managed to keep the horns - had a concern that the fan and condenser would get in the way
