LED'S in the dash.

Post by Dick Koch »

My dash lighting on all my cars seemed rather dull and dim so l replaced all the three top #57 bulbs with LED lights. HUGE DIFFERENCE. I didn't change the turn, hi-beam. Oil or generator bulbs because they were pretty bright and seldom are on. See the pitchuhs.

Did you get a new camera, Dick, or change the settings?

Currently the board settings are a max of 5120 x 4096 pixels (~25 megapixels) and 350MB in size. How big are these whoppers, do you know? I can change the settings, if you tell me what needs changing...

I have had it quite a while but apparently have not used it on the site, l will change the pixel setting on my tablet also, l have a ton of pictures there also. I have no problem loading pictures on Facebook. Should l email the picture to you so you can change it.

Oh, and email it to dan at 59plymouth dot net. If you email to my work account, it could get stripped because of its size.

Yes Matthew, you can still dim them. John Q. Wanted so numbers for the LED'S. I tried to post pictures here an email them to Dan but they are to large to send. Thats why the pictures are on facebook. I purchased them on line at about half the price you can get them at Advance auto or Pep Boys. Go to www.superbrightleds.com link to your car and they list all the bulbs you use and the LED equivalent.

I opened the floodgates, Dick - try uploading again, then I will be able to tell the dimensions and size.

Just to clarify: Facebook scales all incoming input to their maximum allowed size. No matter how big your picture is, Facebook will reduce its size to their maximum allowed. The Forum only scales the thumbnail, but leaves the original intact.

Just sayin'!

Question if I may

How does the heater controls get illumination

Is it via the slit on the side of the main dash housing?

I've got a bulb on the trans button selectors and its obviously brighter on that side

Cheers

Vic -The instrument panel has clear plastic windows on the sides that let's light transfer to the pushbuttons themselves, a reflection of sorts. Normally where the bulbs plug into the back of the instrument panel there is a green dome the gives the panel a green tint with a regular bulb.. On Greenie the green dome on the shifter side is distorted from heat and the LED bulb is to long to fit with it distorted like that. I think I'm going to break the distorted dome and just use the green LED bulb by itself. If it brightens the buttons more l will do the same on the heater side. The shifter buttons that are very bright on my Convertible is because l used the shifter from my 59 Desoto parts car and it brightens the buttons with its own bulb mounted to the front of the shifter. I just haven't replaced that bulb with a green LED bulb yet. Hope this clears it up.

It most certainly did

I've ended up getting an LED strip light and mounted it between the instrument panel and the heater control panel

Came out not to bad

Will just need to blank out the rear as it casts light onto the fire wall
