Gary Goers

Post by vic barone »

Hi All

I know Gary is behind on his orders due till health etc but can anybody assist

My friend and I sent an order request prior to. Christmas last year

I'm hoping to mount the body to chassis and need rubber mounts

I've tried all methods of contact but no luck

Does anyone have a good report with him

Our order is under Peter wicks name ( he's restoring a 300f and has just recently completed his 59 SF Cvt)

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Vic

Matthew and I just purchased some parts from Gary. I took mine out, and am about to ship Matthew's stuff - I found the attached in the box.

Get what you need, while you can. Just to note: Gary turned this order around in a matter of days.

I'm happy to report that Gary seems to be doing just fine. He called me yesterday, noting that I had two outstanding orders with him, which he intended to consolidate in one shipment. One I had placed last month after Carlisle, the other just recently - so he's managing to stay on top of things.

I also had sent him a close-up of the Jiffy Jet sticker in this photo, asking him if he made it ('cause I want one!), but he didn't. He's interested, though - I sent him this pic so he has the bag as reference for the size of the sticker. Let's see what happens... Matthew, do you remember what year and model this car was? I don't have any other pictures, unfortunately.

Hello all, I was just going through Gary's catalog, filling out a order form and was ready to place a huge order of basically every part in it for a total restoration on my Sport Fury. I went to check something on his web site where I saw he has posted an update, dated 10/10/17.

It sounds as though Gary's long time health issues have reached a point where he will no longer be able to keep the business going. I am truly sad to hear of this. He said he plans to fill orders and continue working some small projects till the end of the year. I have heard a great many things about how awesome Gary and his products are, and how he has helped hundreds if not a few thousand FL cars be restored and kept on the road. I hope he is able to make some progress in recovery health wise, and am sad to hear of his pains and lack of mobility. He is planning on seeing a specialist for a week of treatment and hopefully after that will possibly be back in business.

I am wondering if I should still mail in my order and pay via PayPal? or wait and see if he makes improvements with his health? Part of my reason for delaying this long is because I am stationed over seas, and my car is in San Diego and all parts and orders go there. With out being able to go out and check the car I am kind of ordering blind and will not be there to receive them or any return correspondence from Gary. I have no problem replacing every thing that can be replaced, but I am unsure of what exactly applies and in some cases the qty of parts such as screws, clips, how many feet of door seal material ect. If any one has a comprehensive list of every part and their qty needed for our cars I would appreciate it so i could compare it to the "best guess" list I have made to ensure I get every thing on order and advice if I should even attempt to make an order at this time.

Wow, this is bad news. I'm going to send in my order and hope for the best.

I am sure that if Gary packs it in, someone will take in the inventory- the question is, how well will they manage it, and how long before they sell any of it. And will they still collect parts from the various vendors Gary has established connections with over the years, and will they be able to reproduce any parts...

Perhaps Andy Bernbaum or Roberts will buy him out?

At any rate, William, is there no one on the left coast to whom you can have any delivery sent, and check it for you? I wouldn't mind taking delivery on your behalf, and reporting on what gets delivered - but then there's the cost of shipping it back to you once you arrive home.

He does mention hoping some one will take over the buisness. I could see this as an opportunity for either of the other parts suppliers or maybe a new vendor to get in the door. While it's a small niche market it sounds as tho it was more than enough to keep Gary busy. Hopefully the torch will pass and it will continue on for the sustainable future.

I have been collecting parts like crazy for the last year. Small stuff I have sent here to okinawa since postage is not that bad because once the package reaches San Francisco or Chicago it transfers to military postal system so it is free from there. But on large boxes or parts I send them to my father in law who is storing a small mountain of parts now. He would be able to go through and check and relay the correspondence.

I will scrub my list and see what all items I am questionable about. Dan, I think is saw a mention in a post where Matthew had gone through your catalog and highlited all that applies, should I reach out to him for suggestions on what all my list should include? I know he is the walking dictionary on all things 59 sport fury!

Here is your dictionary

I should make a list of all things in his catalog that will fit 59 Plymouths and post it here.
Maybe, I'm not sure if it's worth it as nobody knows how long Gary is still making this stuff.
I think that Vans auto is going to take over his stuff somewhere in 2018. If only I could afford it

Matthew, if you could I would be very grateful as it would help me out to ensure I order the right stuff, hoping that Gary will accept one last order.

I hope Gary's health improves and he feels better. And I hope if he does call it, Vans or Andy pick up the buisness.
