22nd RIVER RANCH RUN - January 29, 2011

Post by Dick Koch »

It's held at River Ranch RV and Dude Ranch Resort about 30 miles west of Yeehaw Junction, Fl. A two hour drive from my house. Around 10 AM I had to take my MOPAR sweatshirt off it got so warm. Beautiful sunny day. It's in the middle of nowhere on the Kisseemee River. Despite that, it drew 352 cars and a lot of spectators, where they came from, who knows??? These pictures are just an overview not specific cars because I remembered at the very end to take pictures. Some folks were already starting to leave. There were games for the kids and adults with $25 cash prizes, at least 50 door prizes and a raffle drawing for the five main prizes.

Bla bla bla sunshine bla bla bla paradise bla bla bla   Dick you have to stop showing all these cars under the palm trees! We get so depressed by seeing how nice it is in Florida. Here are two movies I took Saturday when matthew took the convertible out to test the brakes at work, the first one was around 7.30 AM and it was 22F at that time but as a real Dutch hero he refused to put the top up 8)

Dick,

WMV means "Windows Media Video" - it's a Microsoft proprietary format that I initially adopted for video uploads. It works fine on most Windows operating systems, unless competing video players are installed (like RealVideo), and they don't play on my desktop operating system (Ubuntu - a linux system) at all! My bad - I think the "lingua franca" for most computers these days is flash. I'll attempt to convert Ron's video as flash, and repost.

Hmmm.... I converted Ron's movies to "flash", but the quality really suffered in the process. We might have better luck if we convert the original camera videos to flash (avoiding wmv), but I'm not sure.

First one was dark but you can see the car in the distance. 2nd one was great and great bright view of it coming home to roost!

Dan - I used to get WMV fine. Just lately it isn't happening, don't change your format for me. Should I delete Real Player and go to Microsoft Media Player.

Hard to say what's really going on with your computer, Dick. Real Player should coexist peacefully with Windows Media Player. Do you have a local geek that could look things over for you?

Almost black on first movie, second movie shows the car looking very much at home on your streets.
As for brakes, remember the passenger frint cylinder rusted and leaked onto the drum and shoes. I think it's the upper steel line that should be replaced...which ever one runs to the new-looking cylinder. it's rusting on the inside.
Also, the parking brake needs to be tightened, but you must already know all this. (And the steering linkage needs some attention.)

ABACOA TOWN CENTER CAR SHOW

Post by Dick Koch »

Lets go to a car show. Ya'll ain't gonna like me none BUT I went to another car show yesterday. It's held the first Saturday of every month. John (Big M) it got to 80 during the day but we had to put on jackets around 7:30. Our gang usually gets there around 1:30 in the afternoon so we can get a good spot up front and leave early if we want. The show ends with a parade at 8:30 so you will get stuck because there is no way out until then. We have a lot of nice cars here in South Florida, there were approx. 250 cars, here are pictures of some of them.

Thanks Dick, keep these car show pictures coming so we won't forget what it's like! In 2 months the first show of the year is scheduled in the Netherlands and we will be there. That is if we get the car registered tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for us.
