Dan - I am also honored that you posted this on our site. Last year Frank Lamps White 59 SF was one of the feature cars in the 50 Year anniversary section. I also applied but he beat me out and deservedly so.

Your DeSoto is gorgeous, Dick - I'm sure Ron will be posting more pix after his visit with you in November.

I wat Dick and Yvonne to adopt me so I can inherit all his cars!

But hopefully not for 20 more years or so!!!

It is a stunning De Soto!

Dick, How can I get one of those calendars showing your car? Can non-De Soto club members buy them?

Where do I start. Two weeks before the Auto Festival, it was last saturday, I had a White Wall seperate 22575R/14. Well they don't make them anymore except for Coker (Mexico) $226.00 delivered my house. Got the tire on Friday 8th. had it mounted and one the way home the engine konked out. I suspected it was a fuel problem so had my son bring the spare carb I had and changed it in the Sonic Parking lot. Started right up and made it home but after that it would start but when I reved it up it would kill. Messed around a couple of days and could't figure it out so asked a mechanic friend of mine to come take a look. He noticed that when I reved it up the timing light would go out and that the starter was turning very slowley. So on his recomendation I had the starter rebuilt, took the Pertronix out and put the points back in, cranked it and WALA it started and ran real good. all that was on Thursday the 14th. We left for Lakeland (4 couples) on Friday 15th. and about 40 miles and lo and behold the left rear seperated. My spare was a 3/4" whitewall so had to show the car with that tire. Then to top it off on the way home the water pump gave up. Damn you'd think a water pump would last more that 50 years.
Thank god for Triple A. I replaced it yesterday and today and the car is running like a top.

The Show was wonderful, 670 cars, 35,000 people. We were in the Golden Anniversary Section (50 Yrs.) with six other beautiful cars. I didn't win anything but the Black Impala Convertible and the Maroon Pontiac Bonneville did. Even though I felt very Elegant all day. Spent some time with my friends where thier cars were parked and took a lot of pictures. I did not go down every street or I would still be there taking pictures, just shot down the street so you could get an idea of the amount of people.

Dick, who is the young stallion standing by the right rear quarter of the De Soto? I wish these body-builder types would not stand in the way of my view!

That is the first time I ever saw Amphi-Car race! Two of them at one lake is a rare sight.

Looks like a good event to attend and your bride looks pleased with the outing for the day!

Young Stallion, Yea Right, more like a worn out old stud getting thick everywhere. There were six Amphicars there, all in the water but I took a picture of only two. Had to be at least 12 antique wood boats. We had a great time.

Six amphi-cars? wow! What a time for the tire and waterpump to go out on your DeSoto. Your car looked great!
Better luck next year!

Dick - The apparel you are wearing looks just like a FedEx uniform I wore up until a couple years ago when I retired. Just put a FedEx logo on the shirt and some purple trim and you can drive one of those good lookin' trucks and start delivering. :)
Nice pics btw.

Dick,

The car looked great on the show field. There was some pretty tough competition (I loved the Black Chrevy!) I bet not many people noticed the spare tire on your car with the skirts on. Besides they would have been blinded by the beauty of the rest of thr car itself to notice a misplaced tire!

What a huge show and great turnout!

Damn I wished I lived in Florida.

I need to get my daughter to Orlando before she gets much older (just turning eight) I would like to stop by and say Hi if its convenient for you guys. Of course I would give you plenty of notice.

Have a great day!

Curt
