Good morning! I thank Ron Keij for inviting me to join 😊

I am now in the process of planning pickup of my all original ‘59 Sport Fury. Needs some work but it’s a running, driving complete car. Black on red. I’m so excited! Its the first time I’ve been buying parts and planning the restoration before the car even got here. Hoping to have her home Saturday.

Joe Mendozza from Long Island, NY. I can’t wait to get it home. Taking the drive early tomorrow. Hopefully on the trailer by noon. I hope to be making good use of this page and everyone here as a cherished resource!

Joe, speaking of cherished resources - you can do no better than Ed Eckerson, from your neck of the woods (Holbrook). You'll find his restoration here in the Showcase. Ed doesn't frequent the Forum much - he prefers email - but I'll be happy to e-introduce you if you like.

Question about interior

Joe sent me this question:

Hmmm... I'm not so sure. What are your thoughts, Matthew? (I'll contact Matthew separately to make sure he sees this post.)

If I look at the top of the seat I can see one of the snap buttons. I bet this is a cvt rear seat!

All Sport Fury hardtops had the dip in the middle.

Just FYI, the vert rear seat back is hard to find and probably expensive!

Hey Joe,
Looks like you have a great start to bring back your Fury to all it's Glory.
Welcome aboard this great site. I haven't been on lately, but this is a tremendous site with a wealth of knowledge. My Question to you "is your car originally titled in New York"? My 59 Savoy hails from East Northport, long Island. My original Registration Card never carried the correct VIN number. I have been trying to get it corrected to no avail for many years. At one point I was told New York Motor Vehicles used the motor number for the VIN.
I'm being forced to go to the Maryland State Police at Motor Vehicles and show them the car and it's untouched ID plate under the hood, to correct my Title and Registration.
Welcome,
Curt
PS I've owned my Savoy for 30 years!

Hey Curt! I got my car from Virginia so nope. Wow, you don’t see forward look cars at all anymore here on LI. They’ve all gone back to be one with the earth!

I’ve got interior! I decided to stick with the rear convertible seat. Since it’s what came with the car and the previous owner said it hadn’t been changed, I figured why not keep it? If it’s wrong, no big deal. But maybe it was pieced together with what they had at the factory too, like Mopars have often been assembled. My buddy has a 2006 Ram 1500 that was factory built with Dakota Sport brakes! He paid for the “big truck” package but got little truck brakes! Always wondered why he burned through em so quick! 😁

Joe, the upholstery looks great! :D Are you in the market for rocker moldings? I picked up a pair a few years ago at Carlisle, thinking someday someone could use them. If you're interested, I'll take some photos. As I recall, they have a few dings that will need some work, but if you have a good trim guy (or are good at trim yourself), they should clean up nicely. Clips can be had from Quirey Quality Design (they took over from Gary Goers).

Thanks so much, but I was able to get a pair NOS in the box with a bunch of other parts. I’m shopping aggressively, the two things I need are a lower front valence and a lower rear passengers side quarter patch. 😊
