Mecum auction Kissimmee, FL Jan 28th

Post by tomf »

A very nice SF convertible is scheduled to be sold at this Mecum auction on Sat Jan 28th at 8:45 PM Eastern.

Also a 58 Fury on the same day at 6:20 PM

If this is not a live show maybe we can find out when it will be aired.

Tom, and all,
Nice to hear from Tom again, do we all agree?
According to my research, the auction will be broadcast on Discovery Channel.
Wednesday and Thursday 10 am - 6 pm PST
Friday and Saturday 11 am -7 pm.
If you have DishNetwork...364, 5333 Direct TV 76, 281 (I dont know anything about either, so perhaps I am not providing enough info)

Comcast will also carry it, but oo much info for me to transcribe...
Please Google Mecum Auctions.
My East Coast brother says Finding Classic cars is on Discovery Channel, but I cannot find it here in Seattle. It may be on HDTV, a channel I don't get.

And I HAVE to say that these auctions, Mecum or Barrrett-Jackson or whatever, are unfathomable to me.
It appears to me that the very rich are prepared to bid up the very-restored cars. It feels to me as if a schism exists between over-restored car owners and "regular" restored car owners.
I do not object to car owners taking a chance on getting big bucks via these auctions; hard-working restorers should be able to recoup their costs. To a degree.
Oh well, I guess I am unhappy, but I cant say what bugs me with these auctions.

Roger, I watch "Chasing Clasic Cars" on the Velocity Channel. This channel used to be called HDNET I believe till it changed it's name to Velocity in December 2011.

I agree with you Roger, it is great to hear from Tom again!

A while ago Mattthew posted a link to this convertible for sale in this topic viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2035
Great looking car and it should sell for a good price if it is as good as it looks in the pictures. No way to see the auction for me as it is broadcast on Discovery's Velocity Network, we have 5 other Discovery network channels but not this one.

I've got to agree with you Roger-The parade of over restored cars become numbing after a bit. I've got a slew of old cars i've fixed up so they not hard to look at and will usually start. I can see the attraction to perfection, but its all alittle too rich for my blood and of course the skill levels of John and Dick inspire me to new heights!!!
