Sad news from Bernie Brouillet

Post by Faulkner »

Bernie gave me permission to share this...
Bernie Brouillet wrote:Dan,

I've really appreciated this group more than I've ever been able to say, and have shared a few extra tidbits with you over time.

But now I must tell you the saddest thing of all, that my wonderful wife Carol passed away suddenly last Tuesday evening, after we just returned from a visit at UMass med center. She lived exactly 7 months with her new kidney, but her heart gave out. We had hoped to come to Carlisle together next year if she was well enough as she wanted to see Gettysburg so badly. I might come to Carlisle next year if things work out, will have time to tinker with the car now but doubt it will be ready by then. I don't have the ambition that speedy Dick Koch seems to have in spades, amazing how he is going on with those projects.

I have just one photo of Carol with my car taken back in 1976, maybe someday I will add it to my showcase. Her obit is online and relatively easy to find or I can send a link if you care to see it. I really appreciate knowing you and all the group both online and the time we met in person back in 2007.

...she never got to ride in my car on the road, but at least sat in the swivel seats when we went to to drags long ago. And she took a roll of 8mm home movies of several runs down the strip and I hope I can find it soon, it's here someplace.

Bernie, John and Family - So sorry to hear of your wife's passing. They say, good or bad, just keep walking and you will walk right through it. I read the obit and it sounded like she had a full and busy life. I'm sure she will miss you as much as you will miss her. We wll pray for her, you and the family.
Dick.

This one just sticks in my throat. I had no idea she was ill, got a new kidney, et al.
Bernie, you've always been a satellite around this site, adding a word or two when inspired.
The report on Carol gives those of us who didn't know her a glimpse into a life that was charged with a desire to help the less fortunate. Obviously she had a huge impact on all she touched. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. Carol was a wonderful person who liked these old cars - we went to many shows, races, and chased leads and sightings of these elusive 59 Sport Furys in the good old days. More recently she had a Sebring convertible and we enjoyed lots of time in the sun. While her passing was sudden and unexpected, she dealt with many years of failing heath due to complications of diabetes. We really appreciate all the people who devote their lives to heal, maintain and improve the healthcare of everyone.

Thanks again,

Bernie B.

Bernie, our thoughtsare with you. You will go through tough times but someday you will be with her again. Hope you will be able to make it to Carlisle this summer with or without your car, I really enjoyed all your great car stories when we met in 2007.

Bernie,

Sorry for your loss. I think we missed you at Carlisle since we went 2008, 2010 and 2011. Either way you are part of this family, and we are glad to have you. I hope you stay on with us.
it is difficult losing a loved one, but this is a short life for all of us. However we can hang onto memories of all the good times.

Stay Well,
Curt and family.
