Re: The Great Milestone Mystery

I am the person who purchased Robert Hinds 59 Plymouth Sport Fury from him back in 2013. Robert had told me the he was the one who applied for having his Sport Fury recognized as a Milestone car. I still have the car and the Milestone Certificate. In all the information he gave me when I purchased t...

Re: Art Schlachter's Sport Fury

Thanks for the nice comments on the article I wrote in the latest POC Bulletin. At 74 years old, my mind says I-want-to-buy-another-car but my body is telling me NO. I noticed in this same issue of the POC ( in the "For Sale" section), is a 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible in what appe...

Re: recast steering wheels

Back to the drawing board - I tried inserting the photo of both wheels sitting side by side and after I hit "Submit" it didn't work. Sorry.

Re: recast steering wheels

Yes it wasn't clear to me on how to get pictures into this system. Frustrated, I mentioned I was having problems getting pictures in this system and only after I hit "Submit" the pictures showed up. I was expecting to see them before I hit Submit, so I could be sure I entered the correct p...

Re: recast steering wheels

After waiting about a year, I just received my re-casted steering wheel from D & D Automobilia. The newly recast wheel looks fantastic and D & D tells me that the clear material will stay clearer much longer than the original material from the factory. I wish I could figure out how to place ...

Re: 59 Fury Power Steering Pump - can't find

I did exactly what I said I would do and I now have a 2nd power steering pump (again rebuilt by Lare's), setting on the shelf as a backup. I think your scare tactic of suggesting a bad pump can cause catastrophic problems with other parts of the power steering system is an extremely unlikely case of...

Re: Fury horn ring

William, send me your email address and state where you are located ? (I know it is not Kentucky as my 59 Sport Fury is the only one in this state.) I still have the wheel in my shop but have sent in the $400 deposit to get on his waiting list to recast the wheel. He has a 6-7 month lead on work so ...

Re: Fury horn ring

Ken, I want to put together a complete steering wheel after I have the wheel recasted. I plan to switch it with the one on my car which is in good shape except the clear material is slightly yellow because it has been on the car for 20 years. Still looks great. I will sell the old wheel in an effort...

Re: Fury horn ring

Ken, I wish I did have the bumper exstenion (or bumper wings as I call them), but I do not have. I found a pair two years ago and sent them off to be rechromed. The chroming company had to do some welding as there was some rust thru, but did a great job and they are now on my car. Really makes the f...

Re: Fury horn ring

Ken, I see your post was in 2008 - but I will inquire anyway if you still have the 59 Sport Fury horn ring and asking price ?

thanks

Re: recast steering wheels

The previous owner of D & D sold all the tooling and he talked highly of the person that purchased his equipment. I guess we will have to wait to hear from someone that has had a steering wheel redone by the new owner and hear what that person has to say about the workmanship. The steering wheel...

Re: recast steering wheels

I personally have not done business with D&D, however the previous owner of my 59 Sport Fury (Robert Hinds) when he was restoring the steering wheel, had the clear plastic portion recast by some company. Robert has passed away so I cannot locate to actually did the job and I suspect it might hav...

Re: replacement '59 headlight switch

Dan, regarding installing the green superbright LED's under the dash. In back of the speedometer, I only installed the center bulb and left the two outside ones as normal bulbs. The one LED bulb in the center is more than enough to get good illumination. Reaching up under the dash is fairly easy for...
