Re: Source for Brake Shoes

Hi, guys. Thanks for the great tips. I got a set of the old asbestos-type shoes from Craig Stanley at Mobile Parts on Long Island. They definitely do the trick, at least short term. For anyone in need of brake shoes for a '59, Craig can be reached at 516-485-1935.

Gas Tank Replacement

Hey, guys. Thanks for the great tips to source brake shoes. I got them from Craig Stanley at Mobile Parts in Long Island. They're original material and make a real difference. AND NOW, the once-repaired gas tank leak has returned and is motivating me to replace the tank. Anyone have a good source? I...

Source for Brake Shoes

Greetings, Gents. My '59 is out of hibernation and into my mechanic's garage. We're looking for a new source for brake shoes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any leads. --Gary

Re: Carlisle 2019!

The countdown is now on, and for your added entertainment, I'm bringing a portable DVD player and Peter Gunn DVDs, especially Season 2, Episode 21 "The Hunt," in which Gunn's '59 Sport Fury convertible is the real star of the show. See you gents Friday night when you get back to Mechanicsb...

Yes, Dan, I'll take the room in Mechanicsburg for Friday and Saturday nights, thanks. What a break. Let me know if you need a credit card or info to hold the room. You can reach me on my cell phone at 954-849-9201. Should get there about 4 p.m. Friday.

Re: Carlisle 2019!

Got my registration materials, too! Flying up to Pittsburgh on Thursday afternoon, 7/11, and driving east midday on Friday. Staying in Chambersburg Friday night and driving up to Carlisle Saturday morning. Can you guys try to hold a spot for me on the show grounds for Saturday morning arrival? What ...

Re: Carlisle 2019!

Guys, all went well on my weekend Belvy treks around town and out on the highway. A clunky suspension noise front right turned out to be an old shock, so a new set will go in next week. Should also ease a bit of "floating" issue I noticed. I am in need of a set of rear brake drums, in case...

Re: Carlisle 2019!

I'll be taking the Belvy out for a spin on the Ohio Turnpike this afternoon, as a warm up drive for Carlisle. It's a beautiful day here and she should get lots of looks out on the highway. Got my new AAA card, just in case. Keep your fingers crossed that I won't be needing it.

Re: Carlisle 2019!

Hi, Dan and crew. Sorry to be waffle man about the arrival date/time. I'm still waiting for final confirmation from my client in Tampa about the the event on July 11. If it's still on, I'll see you on Friday afternoon. If not, I'll be able to come in on Thursday. Appreciate your room sharing offer, ...

Re: My '59 Sport Fury

Hey Steve, I'm still up for a 2-Plymouth convoy to Carlisle if you're planning to come through Youngstown. Going there AND returning, as long as our schedules sync. Looks like I-76 is the best route. Pretty sure my Belvy is in good shape for the trip. Planning to take her out on the Turnpike over co...

Re: Carlisle 2019!

Thanks, Dan. I have a client event in Tampa Thursday morning and will be flying up to Pittsburgh later that afternoon. That's why I'll be a little late to the party. There are a few other motels in the area with rooms available, so I'll be able to find something if Mechanicsburg is booked. Will ever...

Re: Carlisle 2019!

Excellent, thanks Matthew. What do you guys recommend for a nearby room for Friday and Saturday nights? Is Mechanicsburg still an option? I have cousins in Harrisburg as a very very last resort!

Re: Carlisle 2019!

Registered! Planning to drive the Belvy over from Youngstown Friday morning and hope to arrive in Carlisle about 2. Dan, can you hold a spot for me with the group on the Showfield? Thanks.
