Re: Carlisle 2020!

Just got word Iola Car Show 2020 is cancelled. It's held on same date in July as Chryslers at Carlisle so it probably doesn't look good for you guys.

Re: Carlisle 2020!

Darn. ....once again Carlisle is being held on same weekend as the Iola Old Car Show. One of these years, maybe. I think a few years ago it was a weekend apart but can't remember why I didn't go. Sent my preregistration stuff in last week for Iola '20 so spring can't be too far away. My '59 is...

Re: Iola 2017 Experience

Dan: I think I qualify for the WSR (world's slowest replier). Of course I said NO. On the pic deal.....I used to be a picture taker back in the day when you took your roll of film to Walmart to get developed. Just never got used to digital cameras. But I recently bought a GoPro so we'll see what hap...

Iola 2017 Experience

Hi fellas, long time no post. Thought I'd share this. Took my '59 to Iola again this year (15th year), As I was parking it among at least a thousand cars, a fellow walked up and was interested in the Plymouth. He noticed the Texas plate on front of my car and said he was from Texas. I told him my ca...

Re: electronic ignition

Installed my Petronix today. Actually my friend did it. I held the light for him. My car is a 318 with a '61 Dodge/Plymouth distributor (part #30-3820) in it. So the Petronix Ignitor (part #1381A) fit in it perfectly. I also got the PNX 40111 Petronix coil and installed that. My friend has a '71 Dod...

Re: electronic ignition

Dan thinks he is the WSM (worlds slowest mechanic). Maybe not. I finally got around to ordering the Petronix. Ordered it through my local Advance Auto parts store. I have the newer 30-3820 distributor in car so I got the 1381A Petronix for it. The counter guy couldn't find a coil for it on his compu...

Congratulations Dan

This might have been mentioned before somewhere on site, but I didn't see it.

Anyway, according to the latest Plymouth Bulletin just received today, we have a new 1959 Plymouth Technical Advisor - Dan Morton - Congratulations Dan.

Re: New 59 Plymouth fuel tank from Vans?

Just an after thought....if tarpaper is to be used, why not use ice/snow paper instead. It is a tad thicker than 15# or 30# tarpaper and IMO the benefit would be that one side has an adhesive layer. I might add, a very good adhesive. So if this material is stuck to the tank, maybe no moisture could ...

Re: New 59 Plymouth fuel tank from Vans?

Hi fellas - long time, no post. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we have 18 gal tanks? (but knowing MoPar, maybe some had 18 and some 20) Also, wondering if there is possibility of moisture being trapped by installing material on top of tank. I once had a '80 Dodge van with a leaky tank. In additi...

Re: Crushing News

Maybe they're still with us....don't know. Think of all the good parts on those cars. I don't need any (knock on wood) but I'm sure a lot of other guys do. I've got a 4-dr Fury parts car sitting in my "back forty" and at least while I'm able she'll never see the crusher. I should have ment...

Crushing News

In my latest "Old Cars Weekly" paper dated Jan 2, 2014, an article covers a recent auction in North Dakota. It sadly states (next to a picture of a '59 Fury Sedan) "One of four 1959 Plymouths offered at the Lende Collection Auction in Walum , N.D., this Fury sedan received no offers, ...

Re: Heater parts

Just went out (in my pajamas) and checked my AC car. Dual horns are on passenger side above dryer. (Car is stored in my detached garage and it's -6 degrees below zero out there, but couldn't remember either.) Roger - regarding heater core in van - a few years ago I had a '80 Dodge Van and replaced h...

Re: Heater parts

"switch hose manifold tits"....Dick mentioned. I think that's my problem (actually not mine, but the cars). A few years ago I took this part out of my Sport Fury, that was under the dash. I think some vacumn hoses lead to it and a couple of these plastic "tits" were broken off. I...
