Re: compressor removal
Thanks Matthew, I'm actually just removing the compressor to get to the Heads, getting the AC unit actually working will have to wait for another year. My main concern is spraying freon all over the place. I have a plan to put a blanket over the connection and take it slow, see if I get any hissing ...

I doubt this ac unit has any freon left in it however there is no guarantee of that till I open it up. Any advice on how to deal with this?

Re: exhaust manifold
Thanks Mark, Removing the heads sounds a little daunting to me, I did it years ago to a 65 Econoline but it would be a great way to clean out the rust while I'm at it. Then I might as well change out the head gaskets and resurface the heads. I also would kind of like to put a stock 4 barrel carb on ...

exhaust manifold
Hey everyone, I hate to keep pestering but, it looks like I have to replace my exhaust manifolds. Does anyone have any advice? Is there any danger of cracking the engine block or manifold? What do I do if I break off a bolt head etc. etc. My Mechanic doesn't want any part of it.

Thanks Guys, You have both been very helpful. I'm feeling a bit more optimistic and I'm gonna get to work getting this Rust reduced and adjusting my lifters.

Re: Rust in the engine
I will be keeping the car in a heated garage so hopefully we will be fine in the future. I just have one more question. I won't be driving the car over the winter months, how long does the car need to be idling to reach a temperature high enough to burn off the condensation?

Re: Rust in the engine
Thanks Marc and Dick, You both were very helpful. Yea this car has been sitting for a while I believe. I bought it from a guy who restores old cars specializing in Mopars, who ever it seems that he probably had to many irons in the coal to keep this one up. He did a lot of work on the car last minut...

Re: Rust in the engine
Hey Mark, The entire inside of the rocker cover was caked in rust so bad that the Oil fill cap was rusted solid to it. I cleaned that out and replaced the cap, My mechanic told me not to attempt to clean out rust and run the risk of breaking loose any chunks that could get lodged internally some pla...

Rust in the engine
Short of a rebuild is there anything one can do to remove or reduce the rust in the engine? I've been told flushing is too dangerous. Can frequent oil changes eventually reduce the amount of rust enough so that I have a serviceable engine? The engine has some lifter noise I would like to address but...

Steering shaft insulator?

Does anyone know what the actual name of the part would be? Should I just Google Steering shaft insulator? Any assistance would be...
