Re: We're Celebrating Twenty Years of the 1959 Plymouth Forum!

Dan, Thank you so much for creating this website and all that it has blossomed into over the years. And to everyone who has joined, posted, enjoyed these cars and memories, thanks again! I knew I was a relatively early member, just looked it up; joined about 5 weeks after it launched, as the "l...

Re: West Virginia Motherlode

So I overlooked the older Kaiser, sorry about that.

Was hoping you found a '51, the kind I used to ride to Kindergarten in with a bunch of other 5 year-olds squished together in the back seat for a 5 minute ride each way, each day. Back when the car was almost brand new!

Thanks for the trekking

Re: Bernie Brouillet - Athol, MA, USA (work in progress)

Hi Dennis, No I am not the person you were looking for - You've reached out to me previously by other means, we've spoken on the phone as I presume you'll remember. My time in the Army was spent in Korea in 1970 - 71. Very nice of you to join the 59 Plymouth forum though. Hope you enjoy, or have in ...

Re: New Member

That's quite a car you have there - congratulations and welcome aboard. My first ride in a '59 Plymouth was in a diesel-powered taxi just like yours! Except it was a white colored car. My small town had a two-car taxi service, and I recall reading a write-up in a local paper about them getting a pai...

Re: Unknown part with '59 casting number

Thanks, Dan - Here's a couple more tidbits about that article, and I hope I don't stray too far from identifying the part's application on a 1960 Plymouth, but the drag racing aspect hooked me in pretty bad. I have seen that same emblem stacked three-high on other 1960 Plymouths but didn't verify if...

Re: Bernie Brouillet

William, Thanks for the kind words - I wrote most of that as just an introduction to Dan almost 15 years ago and had no idea he would quote it so much for the showcase. But yes, those were the somewhat early days of drag racing. I had some fun, but the car was rather well used when I got it in 1967 ...

Re: '59 Hardtop with '54K miles

Not only does this car look good, it also looks like one that was in an ad for a once-a-year car wax about 20 years ago. I think the product was "Nu-Finish." Wonder if anyone else remembers the ad, aired a lot during automotive-themed shows, races and such for a year or two. I'm certain th...

Re: Who Does Sport Fury Steering Wheel Recast?

Here's a link to someone in California showing the '59 Deluxe wheel as within their capability. http://qualityrestorations.com/plymouth-steering-wheels/ And some more comments on this subject - Many years ago, 20 or more, I wrote to Robert Hinds when he became the '59 advisor for POC (he had the car...

Re: Chryslers at Carlisle 2016

Many thanks for the great pictures!

You found 5 '62's - mixed makes - that's all you asked for...

Said it so many times before, amazing how many of these '59's keep showing up. And so many more of all things MoPar.

Love them all!

Re: What does it say?

The next guess is as good as any for what it says, beginning with "W" and the rest is up to your imagination. I cannot make it out even with 6X magnification on the original picture. Obviously an early promo photo, never saw it used anywhere. Hope you enjoyed seeing how nice and clear the ...

Re: What is it?

Dan, Thanks for taking this discussion to a wider audience on The Forward Look Network. I see there's a recent biography of Virgil Exner - here's the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Virgil-Exner-Visioneer-biography-extraordinaire/dp/1845848632/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465955673&sr=8-1&...

Re: What does it say?

I'm pretty sure this is a normal valance panel, the angle and distance of the camera is what alters the view slightly. It's a staged photo for sure, has Chrysler Photographic markings on the back. Note that it was taken in the mid-day sun due to shadows cast by many objects, and I think I see on the...

Re: What is it?

Congrats, Matthew - The one - and only one - 1959 Sport Fury 4-door hardtop. Appears to be white with blue interior. (Can't be more than one, right?) And you whipped up on us by having the Motor Life issue at your fingertips. I have one somewhere, but was just going by memory when I sent the picture...

Re: What is it?

So happy to hear my clue made sense - assuming you're choose the right ONE. Sorry, but I got that album so long ago and it fits perfectly, at least to me. I just didn't want anyone to give up so easily, nothing like try and try again when it comes to games like this. Just a small contribution to the...
